UST REMOVAL & SOIL EXCAVATION
Project Description
USA Environment, LP (USA) removed and replaced two 15,000-gallon Underground Storage Tanks (UST’s) adjacent to the Methodist Hospital Emergency Room in the heart of Houston’s Texas Medical Center.
Project Highlights
- TCEQ notifications and local permits
- Removal of regulated substances inside the tanks
- Removal and disposal of asphalt and concrete pavement overlying the excavation
- Removal of overburden and excavation of soils to expose tank and piping
- Implementation of stormwater controls
- Sampling and characterization of excavated soil
- Removal of UST’s using a Komatsu PC-300 excavator and cutting with hydraulic sheers
- Installation of new tanks and piping
- Restoration of the site with concrete pavement
